Rev. Dr. Ron M. Buck, Senior Minister
The Rev. Dr. Ron M. Buck began his ministry with Collierville Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in February 2013. Prior to that, he served as Senior Minister at First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Hopkinsville, Kentucky and as Senior Minister at Lindenwood Christian Church in midtown Memphis. Before moving to Kentucky he spent several years in the Tennessee Region, serving congregations in Halls and Rockwood, and teaching history at Dyersburg State Community College and Roane State Community College. He earned his M.A. in New Testament at Harding University, a Master of Divinity at Memphis Theological Seminary, Masters and Doctoral studies in American History at Memphis State University, and a Doctor of Ministry degree from Lexington Theological Seminary in Lexington, Kentucky. He has also served as faculty at Hopkinsville Community College, where he was the visiting Professor of Religious Studies during the 2008-2009 academic year. He is adjunct Professor of Disciples of Christ History and Polity at Memphis Theological Seminary. Ron has served on the Tennessee Regional Board, the Regional Transformation Team, and the Commission on Ministry in both Tennessee and Kentucky. In recent years he has been through the visioning process led by the Columbia Partnership (George Bullard and Dick Hamm) with two different congregations.
He and his wife, Dr. Catherine Buck, moved to Collierville in the summer of 2013. They have two granddaughters, Mallory, age 14, and Catie Joy, age 7, who live with them.
Dr. Buck is currently studying church transformation and transition at the congregational and regional level, and is particularly interested in the ways in which mainline denominations will restructure over the course of the next decade.
He is currently preparing for and leading workshops and independent studies in the area of Disciples of Christ History and Polity. His next lecture course at Memphis Theological Seminary will be in the Spring 2015 semester.
Rev. Morgan Parks, Associate Minister
Morgan grew up in Memphis and went to Harding Academy and Freed Hardeman University. He worked in sales for many years before going into Ministry after years of being a Christian Worship Leader for 20 years. He graduated with a Masters of Divinity from Memphis Theological Seminary and was Ordained the same weekend as his graduation. He is an avid trout fisherman, musician and Father of 6 children and has 11 Grandchildren.
Courtney Brookshire, Youth Director
Courtney Brookshire has been devoted to working with children and guiding them down a positive path that encourages and aids them to understand what it means to be a believer and follower of Christ. Over the past eleven years she has been following a desire that is dear to her heart by working in youth ministry. She has a Masters in teaching and is currently the eleventh grade Honors English teacher at Central High School. But if asked, she only teachers so she can afford her youth ministry habits. That is where her heart can be found, helping young people come to discern in their own minds and hearts who Jesus is.
Courtney has three children: Will, Jake, and Wyatt. Courtney and her husband Derek have been married for five years. Derek also helps serve in youth and college ministry. They are currently celebrating the birth of their first grandson.
Dr. Sheryl Lane, Director of Music
Dr. Sheryl Lane has been serving as the organist and director of the music program at Collierville Christian Church since the fall of 2000. Before coming to Collierville, Sheryl served as organist and children’s choir coordinator at Parkview Baptist Church in Monroe, LA, organist and church secretary at Arlington Heights Baptist Church in Ft. Worth, TX, pianist and summer missionary assistant at the Buckner Baptist Children’s Home in Dallas, and as a summer missionary in Malawi, Africa.
She received her Bachelor's degree in Music Education from Baylor University, her Master's of Music from The University of Louisiana, and her Doctorate of Musical Arts from The University of Memphis.
In addition to her duties here at Collierville Christian, Sheryl teaches orchestra and class piano at Kingsbury High School and she has a private music studio in her home. Her husband, Ben, is Senior Arena Training Lead at Shelby Systems, a church computer software company based in Memphis. Ben and Sheryl have two sons; Chris is a graduate of Baylor University and is a Client Service Consultant in Waco, Texas and Mark is a student at the University of Tennessee in Martin.
